Zombies and Perfectionism

Is there any real difference ?

Zombies are mindless creatures that hunger endlessly in the pursuit of human flesh. In comparison, perfectionists are tenacious beings that hunger endlessly in the pursuit of crazy high standards. The only real difference between the two is the fact that a zombie can’t really be negatively affected by its obsession. A perfectionist, on the other hand… isn’t so oblivious.

Perfectionists are the people that work themselves to the bone and never know when to leave well enough alone. They would probably kill for more hours in the day. You may be a perfectionist yourself. You may teach one, or you may even live with one.

Regardless, it’s critical that they wayward perfectionist and the people around them learn how to manage perfectionistic thoughts, not only to better the chances of survival in the pending apocalypse, but also to increase happiness and overall mental health in the time before the dead start walking.

Who Are You?

I'm a Student

Do you constantly try to improve things by redoing them? Are you a chronic procrastinator? Do you avoid trying new things because you're afraid you'll mess up? Do you find yourself forgetting to take care of yourself in favor of getting work done or achieving a goal? Do you see yourself as an overachiever? Chances are, you may be a perfectionist.

I'm a Teacher

You may have a student that insists on being nothing but the best, or you may have a student that has so much potential of only they would apply themself. You may have a student that works a bit harder than they probably need to, or you may have a student that never finishes assignments on time. Each of them may be suffering from perfectionism.

I'm a Parent

You're probably very proud of your over-achieving student, and you should be! However, look closer. Your student might be really suffering. They may skip meals, stay up late, and shut themselves away for hours on end doing homework or working on a project. Sound familiar? This isn't healthy, dear parent, and you may unintentionally be making the problem worse.
